You will receive a $2,500 sign on bonus (half paid at 30 days and half paid at a year of service)Position SummaryProvides leadership for students to be successful in the classroom and throughout the school day in all school activities. Provides direction for small group instruction, classroom lesson planning, and teaching utilizing the Neil Hellman School curriculum and materials.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesServicePrepares all lesson plans for instructional activities in accordance with the Neil Hellman School curriculum, using curriculum materialsLead and coordinate classroom large and small group instruction in accordance with Neil Hellman School curriculum.Create and maintain a therapeutic learning environment.Prepare and implement Individualized Education Plan for students.Design and implement all behavior plans for students.Prepare all written reports, assessments, referrals, report cards and other assigned materials and maintain records.Attend all treatment reviews and other case related meetings.Coordinate activities of Teacher Assistants and be responsible for supervision and annual evaluation of Teacher Assistants.Maintain classroom and all equipment and materials at an acceptable level.Be available to meet with parents and guardians as needed.Participate effectively in crisis prevention and intervention according to Agency guidelines.Supervise students, interns and volunteers.Mentor MS and BS level teachers and other faculty as assigned.Provide formal in-service training to Neil Hellman and other agency staff.Review paperwork, child supervision, meeting and IEP implementation responsibilities with all superviseesSpecialtyProvide Music Education to NYS standards to children grades K-12.Maintain and organize music materials and equipment.Provide therapeutic music instruction to individuals, small groups, and classrooms.Provide leadership in a variety of school-wide music events and activities.Work with school administration to deliver music experiences to students in a variety of school-wide venues on the agency campus.Represent the school in Capital Region music events and activities.Education and/or ExperienceRequires Bachelors or Masters Degree in Music Education.CertificationNYS certification in Music Education.
