Must follow Ulster County Civil Service eligibility and hiring requirements for appointment to this position.THIS IS A PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT – APPOINTED PERSON MUST TAKE THE PHYSICAL THERAPIST CIVIL SERVICE EXAM WHEN NEXT ADMINISTERED AND SCORE IN A RANGE TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR PERMANENT APPOINTMENT TO THE POSITION. IF THE APPOINTEE DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR THE CIVIL SERVICE ELIGIBLE LIST, THE APPOINTEE MAY NOT CONTINUE TO HOLD THE POSITION.This is a professional position involving responsibility for providing direct physical therapy services to students upon referral from a licensed physician who provides medical direction. Does related work as required.The typical work activities listed below, while providing representative examples of the variety of work assignments in the title, do not describe any individual position. Incumbents in this title may perform some or all of the following, as well as other related activities not described.Performs physical therapy procedures, evaluations and diagnostic tests for assigned caseload and new referrals;Teaches appropriate treatment procedures and supportive activities to students and school staff;Develops needed plans for modifying equipment, appliances and the physical surroundings of the student;Communicates regularly with parents, classroom staff and related service personnel regarding individual student’s program and progress;Participates in staff meetings, team meetings, CSE meetings and parent/teacher conferences as indicated.Good knowledge of the principles and practices of physical therapy; good knowledge of pathological conditions and socio-economic factors affecting disabilities; ability to get along well with others; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position.
