North Shore School Schools is seeking a dedicated, collaborative, proactive, and empathetic elementary school counselor. The elementary school counselor is responsible for delivering a comprehensive school counseling program to the Glen Head, Glenwood Landing and Sea Cliff Schools, with the aim of enhancing student well-being. Duties and Responsibilities:Deliver the comprehensive school counseling curriculum through classroom lessons and building or grade level initiatives. Support student wellness by providing individual and/or group counseling sessions based on need. Serve as elementary DASA Coordinator. Educate students, staff and parents on DASA policies and creating safe spaces for students who identify in diverse ways. Conduct DASA investigations and maintain records. Promote positive, supportive and inclusive school culture and climate. Support the building Principal and mental health team in crisis situations and peer conflict mediation. Collaborate with the school mental health team to support student wellness. Collaborate and communicate regularly with teachers, administrators and parents to foster students' success.Coordinate and organize meetings with parents as needed.Participate in building Instructional Support Team (IST) meetings. Assess student needs and make referrals to appropriate school resource personnel, social agencies, and community agencies.Utilize data to develop and inform the school counseling program and evaluate the program’s impact on the school’s instructional goals.Support student transition into kindergarten and exiting to middle school.
