Previous Applicants Need Not Re-ApplyPosition Overview: The Director is a visionary and inspirational leader responsible for the instructional leadership of the 6-12 mathematics program and oversight of our Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate programs. This includes providing oversight for curriculum and instruction, supervision of and coaching to the teachers, leading professional development, leading data-driven decision-making, and managing all academic assessments. The Director is an active member of the leadership teams of the District, High School, and Middle School. Candidates must possess or be eligible for NYS SDA/SDL certification.Specific job responsibilities are as follows:1. Direct the overall academic program and support the overarching mission of the District. This includes the following:Plan, organize, and direct all activities pertaining to 6-12 mathematical instruction reflective of NYSED Learning Standards and Assessments, North Shore Journey, and North Shore Shared Valued Outcomes.Serve as an instructional leader, with collaboration, support, and guidance provided by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.Ensure coordination and articulation of instructional programs among all school buildings and across all levels.Provide leadership and modeling for teachers in instructional practice, including differentiation and personalization, unit and lesson planning processes, and data analysis.Facilitate a clear and effective pedagogy that embodies our belief that instruction must be engaging, relevant, and rigorous.Participate in and oversee the development of relevant and meaningful curriculum and maintain current curriculum maps for all courses.Design and promote interdisciplinary learning experiences.Promote strong and equitable outcomes for all students.Develop academic support programs to meet students’ needs.Design and facilitate professional development to support departmental and district initiatives.Serve as the assessment coordinator for the discipline including overseeing the preparation for, administration of, and scoring of all assessments.Analyze data from a range of standardized and internal assessments in collaboration with teachers on a regular basis to inform instructional decision-making and planning. Manage and work to expand dual-enrollment programs within the discipline.Participate in the scheduling processes.Develop staffing recommendations for areas of responsibility.Oversee the hiring of teachers in collaboration with principals.Coordinate the selection, utilization, maintenance, and distribution of instructional materials and equipment.Develop budget proposal for areas of responsibility and manage approved departmental budget.Communicate and present on all aspects of both AP and IB programs.Nurture and further develop a well-articulated program of advanced study through high-quality instruction and meaningful assessment practices.Engage faculty in reflective, professional conversations through formal and informal collaboration, supervision, evaluation, and high-quality professional development.Manage registrations, examinations, and budget of both programs of advanced study.Maintain a commitment to ongoing growth in self and others, supporting and participating in professional growth opportunities.2. Supervise academic teaching staff. This includes the following:Conduct regular observations of teachers and provide both formal and informal constructive feedback.Provide individual coaching for teachers.Identify collaboratively professional goals for each teacher annually and create professional development plans to support teachers in meeting their goals.Conduct evaluations of teachers.Apply on OLAS
