The North Merrick UFSD seeks a highly qualified Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Personnel. The ideal candidate is experienced, organized, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong knowledge of elementary curriculum, instruction, and personnel practices. The successful candidate must have high-level executive leadership experience, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and problem-solving abilities. The 12-month position is part of the Superintendent's Cabinet and reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools. This position is not part of any collective bargaining group.Qualifications:Candidates must possess a Master's Degree, New York State Teacher Certification, and School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of success as a teacher and a school district or school building administrator.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Directs, evaluates, and coordinates the District's instructional programSupervises all subject areas and provides leadership, guidance, and support to the building principalsResponsible for development of high-quality professional development opportunities aligned to the District's goals and New York State Learning StandardsLeads, encourages, and supports the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices and instructional programsSupervises and provides leadership, guidance, and support to all personnel functions, board actions, contract administration, employee evaluations, and disciplinary actionEnsures that District personnel practices conform to District policies, relevant laws, and collective bargaining agreementsCoordinates the recruitment and selection process for the purpose of maintaining a highly qualified staffParticipates in collective bargaining process for the purpose of assisting District negotiation of labor agreements
