Position: Future Forward Teaching Specialist (FFTS) K-12Requirements/Qualifications:• Valid NYS teaching certificate.• Certification in K-12 in Computer Science, Educational Technology or other Technology Education related certification considered but not required.Responsibilities:The Northport-East Northport Union Free School District is seeking a dynamic educator to serve in the role of Future Forward Teaching Specialist (FFTS). This individual will play a pivotal role in advancing our district's instructional technology vision and goals. Under the direction of the Director of Technology, the K-12 FFTS will work closely to mentor and coach teachers and administrators in the integration of emerging technologies and innovative teaching practices to align with the competencies and qualities of the NENUFSD Profile of a Graduate. This role will play a crucial part in preparing students to be future ready, ethical, responsible, globally competitive citizens, and problem solvers through future-driven learning, innovative pedagogy and teaching practices, technology integration, and fostering 21st-century learning skills.Specific responsibilities are outlined in the document belowApplication Deadline: July 25, 2024This vacancy announcement satisfies districtwide collective bargaining agreement requirement for position posting.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• Teaching and InstructionDemonstrate proficiency in NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards, technology integration and innovative teaching strategiers, providing hands-on instruction to students and modeling best practices for educators. Support teachers in designing and implementing technology-enhanced lessons that promote critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity by engaging in practices that:¦ Design Technology-Infused Lessons¦ Integrate Artificial Intelligence¦ Promote Digital Citizenship¦ Personalize Instruction Strategies¦ Support Differentiated Instruction¦ Data Informed Decision Making¦ Coach and Mentor• K-12 Use formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress, identify learning gaps, and adjust instructional strategies as needed. Leverage analytics tools to measure student growth, track performance trends, and inform instructional decision-making. Design and facilitate professional learning opportunities tailored to the individual needs, interests, and abilities of faculty, staff, and administrators. Deliver regular professional development workshops on emerging technologies, 21s--century learning skills, and innovative teaching practices (i.e. personalized learning). Collaborate with teachers to seamlessly integrate technology into the curriculum and daily instruction, fostering discussions on managing student engagement and behavior in technology-rich environments. Assist all stakeholders (faculty, staff. and students) in utilizing technology hardware and software safely, ethically, and effectively. Integrate artificial intelligence (AI) tools and resources into the curriculum to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. Vertical articulation within district-wide FFTS.• Additional Responsibilities:Perform any other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor, demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and a dedication to advancing the district's instructional technology initiatives. Examples or additional responsibilities include but are not limited to;¦ Make provision for being available to teachers, staff and administrators for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.¦ Actively participate in various committees, including the curriculum council, professional development committee, and technology committee, to align the district's instructional technology vision and goals with current trends in education and technology.¦ Make provisions during assessment periods to support district-wide administration of testing including but not limited to computer-based 3-8 i-Ready and NYSED ELA, mathematics, and science, grade 8-12 Regents examinations and other digital assessment platforms implemented by the school district.¦ Stay abreast of current trends in technology and education, actively engaging in professional communities and leveraging digital technology resources.¦ Assist with planning, authoring, and implementing the District Technology Plan.¦ May be required to travel between schools as needed.
