The Elementary Music Teacher (Grades K–6) is responsible for delivering a comprehensive, developmentally appropriate music education program that fosters creativity, musical literacy, and a lifelong appreciation of music. The teacher engages students through singing, movement, instrument exploration, and performance while supporting academic, social, and emotional growth in alignment with school and district goals. Expectations: Plan and deliver engaging music instruction for students in grades K–6 based on state and local music education standards Teach fundamental musical concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, form, notation, and expressive elements Incorporate singing, movement, listening, composition, and performance into lessons Integrate a variety of instructional strategies to support diverse learners and learning styles Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of achievement and growth Prepare students for concerts, performances, and school-wide events as appropriate Create a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment that encourages participation and creativity Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and support staff to support student success Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and performances Maintain and inventory classroom instruments, equipment, and materials Participate in professional development, staff meetings, and school activities Requirements: Valid NYS teaching certification in Music Education Knowledge of elementary music pedagogy and child development Ability to teach vocal and instrumental music Experience planning and leading student performances and concerts Strong classroom management and organizational skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Employment Term: This is a probationary position EOE Statement: The North Bellmore School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in its employment decisions and practices on the basis of legally protected classes in accordance with Federal and State law.
