Hours: Three Days a Week; Appx 3-4 hours a day (July 5, 2023-August 15, 2023) Description: The ESY Orton-Gillingham (OG) Reading Teacher is responsible for developing and implementing OG lesson plans to provide small-group reading instruction. Teacher reports directly to the ESY Coordinator and the Executive Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Special Education. Expectations: Training in the Orton-Gillingham approach Knowledge of language development, the reading process, and the components of reading performance to assess and instruct Plan and implement sequential learning experiences for students aligned with the Orton-Gillingham approach, consistent with the district philosophy, mission statement, instructional goals, and the NYS Standards Evidence of the use of student data, running records and other assessment tools to guide instruction; interpret information from both formal and informal assessments for planning instruction Maintain communication with parents on an ongoing basis Record and report student attendance Communicate progress of students to ESY Coordinator, Executive Director of Pupil Personnel Services and Special Education and support staff, as needed Other duties, as assigned Requirements: NYS Certification in Reading or Literacy REQUIRED OR IN PROGRESS: ORTON-GILLINGHAM CLASSROOM OR ASSOCIATE LEVEL CERTIFICATIONS Employment Term: This is an hourly position, for up to 30 days, from July 5, 2023- August 15, 2023 only.
