TITLE: FT Cleaner/Bus Driver HOURS: 7am-4pm REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Business, Director of School Facilities, and Building Administrators PAYSCALE: $43,004/Yr GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES Operates a school bus and performs routine cleaning duties; performs related duties as required. COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES Under general supervision, this is routine manual work calling for the services of a skilled operator and involving responsibility for the safety of school children. The position also entails elementary cleaning, deliveries, mail sorting/distribution, and other manual tasks. TYPICAL DUTIES 1. Operates a school bus to transport children. 2. Cleans, washes, and polishes bus. 3. Sweeps, mops, washes walls, dusts, empties waste baskets, and disposes of rubbish; handles towels and other cleaning supplies; waxes floors, and washes windows and blackboards. 4. Set-up and remove furniture for special events. 5. Maintain a clean cafeteria during the lunch periods. 6. Other duties as assigned FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1. Knowledge of the operation of buses and road rules. 2. Knowledge of cleaning techniques. 3. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS1. Training and Experience 2. Physical and mental ability sufficient to perform cleaning tasks. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS • Valid CDL License • Fingerprints from Nassau Police department (to obtain a school bus aide id card)?? • Fingerprints from NYSED? • 3-hour bus safety course? • Physical performance test?? • Must attend a 2-hour refresher course twice a year? • Candidates must satisfy the physical and mental requirements for school bus monitor set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State commissioner of Education? • Possession of a valid New York State Driver's License with no convictions for moving violations during the past year and appropriate for the type of vehicle to be operated. In addition, drivers must be at least 2l years of age. • Candidates must satisfy all requirements of Article 19-A of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law. In addition, candidates must satisfy the requirements for School Bus Driver set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State Commissioner of Education.
