Title: In Anticipation of: Substitute/Part-time Bus Matron Hours: 7:00am – 9:00am AND 2:00pm-4:00pm Pay Scale: As per the CSEA Contract Description: North Bellmore is seeking a substitute/part-time Bus Matron for the remainder of 22-23 school year. Bus matrons ride on a school bus for the purpose of maintaining order, and for supervising the loading and unloading of buses at the various stopping points. This is routine work which includes responsibility for the safety of school children on regularly scheduled bus trips to and from school.Expectations: • Maintains order on bus and makes certain that children are seated while bus is in motion • Supervises loading and unloading of bus • Assists pupils and driver as needed • Familiarity with the bus routes in the district • Communicates with parents/guardians as needed • Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions • Ability to get along with children and to maintain discipline • Comply with and execute all safety and security protocols/procedures for the building and district • Other duties, as assigned Requirements: • Fingerprints from Nassau Police department (to obtain a school bus aide id card) • Fingerprints from NYSED • 3-hour bus safety course • Physical performance test • Must attend a 2-hour refresher course twice a year • Candidates must satisfy the physical and mental requirements for school bus monitor set forth in the Rules and Regulations of the New York State commissioner of Education EOE Employer: The North Bellmore School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate in its employment decisions and practices on the basis of legally protected classes in accordance with Federal and State law.
