DIRECTOR OF SOCIAL STUDIES K-12The North Babylon School District is seeking an innovative, dynamic leader for the position of Director of Social Studies.The Director will be responsible for developing students into critical thinkers and life-long learners. The Director ensuresthat students are given the necessary tools to construct arguments and analyze documents. Students will use theseexperiences and profound skills to become knowledgeable, empathetic, productive and informed citizens in a highlydiverse, changing world.Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Supervises and leads the Social Studies Program, K-12Provides direction in the selection of curriculum materials that support cross-curricular learning standard Coordinates a seamless delivery of instruction as students move from elementary to secondary gradesAssists teachers in the empowerment of instructional performance through professional developmentWorking knowledge of the NYS culturally responsive sustaining education framework and seal of biliteracyWorks with building principals to select appropriately related educational activities and events such as field trips, exhibits, etc.(Appropriate and valid NYS certification required)
