Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Interviews and evaluates handicapped students to identify areas requiring counseling and additional support. Determines suitable occupational opportunities consistent with student’s desires, aptitude, and physical/mental limitations. Prepares case records and reports. Provides counseling services designed to encourage and support adult students with barriers to employment. Confers and works with professional personnel, professional organizations, and adult student’s family members where deemed appropriate. May promote and develop job openings to facilitate adult student’s ability to gain employment. Visit sites to counsel students at places of employment. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience Master’s Degree from a regionally accredited New York State registered college or university in rehabilitation counseling, including a supervised internship. Or Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university and Two years of satisfactory experience in the field of vocational counseling or vocational rehabilitation.
