The successful candidate must have demonstrated abilities in working with students with special needs to include autism, cognitive, social/emotional, behavioral and learning needs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Working under the supervision of the Assistant to the Superintendent and Assistant Director(s) to implement all school-wide functions, oversee day-to-day operations and provide instructional support and supervision to administrators, teachers and related service staff.Monitoring and updating curriculum maps, behavior protocols and related services reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with Medicaid Regulations.Ensuring that all goals, services, etc., mandated by the IEP, are appropriately implemented.Maintaining effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, districts and community agencies.Providing staff development for teachers, teacher aides and related services staff.Conducting observations and evaluations of staff and performing related duties assigned by department leadership.Requirements:New York State Education Department Certification: School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) / School District Administrator (SDA) or School Building Leader (SBL) required. Additional School District Leader (SDL) certification is preferred.5 or more years of teaching experience with demonstrated administrative experience preferred.Experience in Special Education related to emotional, learning and developmental disabilities is highly preferred.Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and knowledge of behavioral strategies/interventions and teaching methodologies.Comprehensive understanding of the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and New York State Alternate Assessment, as well as the use of data/technology to inform instruction.A strong understanding of Federal & New York State Special Education laws, regulations and policies.*** ALL APPLICANTS MUST VISIT THE NASSAU BOCES Employment Opportunities PAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATION ***
