The Mount Vernon City School District is seeking interested applicants to fill vacancy for School Social Worker at Pennington School and Nelson Mandela/Dr. Hosea Zollicoffer School. School Social Workers are uniquely qualified to provide social and emotional support to students, parents, staff, and stakeholders. They are team members that support students’ ability to learn and teachers’ ability to teach. School Social Workers partner with families, teachers, school administrators and other professionals to create safe, healthy, and supportive learning environments to strengthen connections between homes, schools, and the community. The successful applicants must have the valid NYS Certification(s)/Licensure(s) required for the position. Additionally, School Social Workers MUST be able to aid with the home, school or personal adjustment issues of students; Must have the ability to provide outreach and casework services to the parents of students that are having difficulty in school; Must have the ability to assist with district-wide programs related to the social, emotional and psychological well-being of ALL children.
