The Mount Vernon City School District is seeking interested applicants to fill a vacancy for a Teaching Assistant at Benjamin Turner Middle School for 2022-2023 School Year.Definitions: Teaching Assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher.Certification: Certification required as a Level 1, Level 2, Level 3, Pre-Professional or Continuing Teaching Assistant certificates.Duties:Working with individual pupils or groups of pupils on special instructional projects.Providing the teacher with information about pupils which will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning behavioral experiences.Assisting pupils in the use of available instruction resources and assisting in the development of instructional materials.Utilizing their skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign language, arts, crafts, music, and similar projects.Assisting in related instructional work as required.Assisting students with specific health-related activities, as appropriate.Local bargaining agreements may address the specific duties of Teaching Assistants.
