Blythedale Children’s Hospital and The Mt. Pleasant Blythedale School District are seeking a Pediatric Psychologist to join our expanding division of Pediatric Psychology. This is an exciting opportunity for a Pediatric Psychologist to work with children and their families who experience emotional, behavioral, or social challenges related to their complex medical issues across a continuum of rehabilitation settings. The position involves a joint appointment as a School Psychologist within the onsite Mt. Pleasant Blythedale School District as well as working with the hospital-based Pediatric Psychology division at Blythedale Children’s Hospital. Job Responsibilities: Identify at-risk students with emotional, behavioral, cognitive, and/or social challenges (e.g., monitoring patients’/students’ functioning and providing consistent communication with administrators, parents, and outside providers).Administer and interpret cognitive, social-emotional, and behavioral assessments and complete psychological test reports based on test data.Create goals to monitor and track progress.Work collaboratively with teachers, paraprofessionals, and other related service personnel in order to review and discuss progress.Actively collaborate on the development and implementation of students’ IEPs; review and discuss issues, profiles, and progress with team members; and chair CSE meetings during annual review season.Direct intervention and counseling to students including during crisis situations.Facilitate weekly therapeutic patient and student groups (e.g., social skills, executive function coaching, emotional support).Role in the development and implementation of the district's therapeutic support programs The Setting: Blythedale Children’s Hospital is New York State’s only independent, specialty children’s hospital with a 30-bed Pediatric & Adolescent Unit, an 18-bed TBI Unit, and a 46 bed Infant and Toddler Unit.The Mount Pleasant Blythedale School is a NYS public Special Act School District, educating inpatients and day hospital children and adolescents receiving rehabilitation and medical services at Blythedale Children’s Hospital.We are the only public school district in New York created to educate a hospital populationWe serve a culturally, linguistic and ethnically diverse populationThe candidate will work alongside 2 other Pediatric Psychologists and a Pediatric NeuropsychologistInterdisciplinary care is a priority for the Blythedale, and the candidate will be an integral part of the treatment team. The candidate will be expected to have close working relationships with other members of the team, including educators, physicians, rehab therapists, social workers, and nursing staff.Required qualifications:Ph.D. or Psy.D. from an APA- or CPA-accredited program in Clinical, Counseling, or School Psychology or related fieldCurrent New York state licensure (or license-eligible)Expertise in working with children and adolescentsExperience in working with a wide range of neurodevelopmental and medical conditions (e.g., TBI, stroke, encephalitis, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, movement disorders, cancers, sickle cell disease, and autism spectrum disorders).
