The Minerva Central School has an opening for a School Social Worker for the 2023-2024 school year. The position is a 1.0 FTE tenure track position with a start date of September 1, 2023. Qualifications include:Possession of a valid NYS School Social Worker Certification or proof of completing an accredited NYS program and be eligible for certification before September 1st, 2023. Must possess NYS LMSW, LCSW or LCSW-R License;Demonstration of a strong commitment to children;Willingness to consult with teachers, other members of the student support team, and administrators regarding students;Effectively consult with appropriate persons to assist students in improving conditions that affect behavior, social adjustment, and performance in school;Expertise in providing direct counseling services to students and parents as needed, including home visits whenever this is appropriate;Ability to explore student’s home and neighborhood environment as individual circumstances necessitate;Capacity to serve as liaison with community service agencies as determined by the school;Experience in preparing parents and/or students for referrals to outside agencies;Completion of all reports that are required for proper intervention;Ability to serve as an effective participant at CSE meetings, when requested;Seek support (advice) from other behavioral specialists (psychologist, psychiatrist) with difficult cases (lack of progression, etc.);Experience with children with special needs, including ASD, group and individual counseling, FBA/BIP, work with educational teams, including related service providers;Willingness to participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend required meetings;Serve as a role model for students and staff;Support instruction, tutoring, and supervision of individual students or small groups of students;Protect the confidentiality of records and information gained as part of exercising responsibilities and duties and disclose such information within legal confines with prior approval of administration;Adhere to all applicable Federal and New York State Department of Education rules and regulations and The Minerva Central School District policies and procedures;Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by their supervisor and not otherwise prohibited by law or regulation.Please upload all relevant materials to your OLAS account.
