School Counselor Short-Term Substitute (Middle School) Millbrook Central School District is seeking a short term leave replacement for a Middle School Counselor. The Leave Replacement School Counselor will be responsible for implementing a comprehensive, data-driven school counseling program aligned with the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model. The counselor will work with students, staff, families, and the community to support the academic achievement, career development, and social/emotional well-being of all middle school students. Anticipated start date on or about April 1, 2026 through June 26, 2026 . Short-term substitute position beginning on or about April 7, 2026, through June 26, 2026. Certification : New York State School Counseling Certification required. Master's Degree in School Counseling or a related field. Bilingual Candidates preferred Key Responsibilities Direct Student Services: Provide individual and group counseling to students regarding academic, personal, social, and emotional concerns. Conduct classroom guidance lessons based on ASCA Mindsets & Behaviors to support student development. Facilitate crisis intervention and management as needed. Indirect Student Services: Consult and collaborate effectively with parents, teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders to address student needs. Make appropriate referrals to outside resources (e.g., mental health services, community agencies). Participate in 504/CSE meetings and student support team meetings. Program Management & Accountability: Utilize data to plan, implement, and evaluate the effectiveness of the school counseling program, adhering to ASCA guidelines. Manage and maintain accurate student records, including confidential files and student schedules, using the SchoolTool student management system. Prepare and disseminate reports on program activities and results. Assist with scheduling, articulation, and transition planning (e.g., 5th to 6th grade, 8th to 9th grade).
