Position – Interim Elementary PrincipalThe Millbrook Central School District is seeking an innovative, educational leader to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of fostering a data-focused culture of instructional decision-making yielding demonstrable student achievement. Our administrators are forward-thinking, flexible, and focused on providing an inclusive and equitable learning environment for all students.QUALIFICATIONS: The successful applicant will possess one or more of the following New York State certifications: School Administration and Supervision (SAS) or School Building Leader (SBL); Prior teaching and administrative experience preferably at the elementary level; Superior educational and building management leadership skills as evidenced by employment experience; The ability to relate in a positive and proactive fashion with parents, staff, students, administrators, colleagues, and the Board of Education; The ability to manage instructional and support staff members through supervision and evaluation; and, Experience in overseeing a process of instructional improvement.RESPONSIBILITIES: Align curriculum to the Next Generation Standards. Support teacher implementation of the Readers and Writers Workshop Model through observation and targeted feedback. Supervise the instructional program and evaluate the teaching personnel using the District-negotiated APPR, and in doing so, provide targeted feedback to foster the continuous growth of the professional staff in their charge. Implement a schoolwide system that reinforces positive supports for appropriate student behaviors and enforces the District Code of Conduct utilizing restorative practices and proactive interventions.Create an instructional schedule that meets the mandates of the New York State Education Department and enhances student programming through innovative use of collective talents and abilities of our staff Utilize data to monitor progress, evaluate achievement, and design student-centered, skills-based intervention programs to ensure the success of all students Assist district administration in preparing and administering the budget. Establish and maintain harmonious liaison with the elementary school, home, and community. Develop a professional learning community where data-focused instructional decision-making creates opportunities for equity for all of our students. Coordinate the elementary school curriculum in collaboration with the Central Administration. Analyze trends in teacher evaluation reports, classroom observations and walk-throughs to identify areas of need for professional development. Align multi-tiered systems of support with target intervention programs and make data-informed decisions about student placement and program referrals. Maintain communication with the other elementary school to assist in student transitions and prevent interruptions in service.
