Position Available: The Merrick UFSD is seeking a probationary speech and language therapist. Salary: According to the Merrick Faculty Association contract. Qualifications: New York State License and/or certification as registered speech language pathologist of NYS certified speech therapist. Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) Preferred. Description: Develop and deliver all speech and language therapy services as per students’ IEPs and program requirements. Experience using IEP Direct software to develop a student’s individualized education plan. Working knowledge of augmentative communication devices, including expertise in programing, usage, and systematic implementation of symbol-supported communication. Knowledge of applied behavior analysis (ABA) teaching techniques to support behavior, social, emotional, and academic goals. Knowledge of PROMPT therapy as a multidimensional approach to speech production disorders to develop motor skill in the development of language for interaction. Hold periodic conferences with the parents of the children in the program to acquaint them with the progress the children are making and how they can help improve their child’s speech. Consult with classroom teachers to determine carryover of corrected speech patterns of students and to evaluate children who are currently in the program. Complete all necessary reports for students in grades PreK-6 th grade. Complete all necessary paperwork, session notes, and recording as per Medicaid regulations through use of NPI number.
