Position Available: Special education teacher – Start date on or about December 13, 2022 Salary: According to the Merrick Faculty Association contract Qualifications: Must possess appropriate New York State certification.Experience teaching students with severe disabilities Description: Experience working in a collaborative team-teaching classroom at the elementary school level preferred. Experience working with students with intensive behavioral needs.Capability to utilize ABA techniques in supporting student growth.Modify the general education curriculum for special-needs students based upon a variety of instructional techniques and instructional technology.Knowledge and experience in designing and implementing behavior intervention programs.Experience using IEP Direct software to develop a student’s individualized education plan.Experience in utilizing special education best practices and techniques, small group instruction, and the use of data to inform instruction.Clear understanding of, or experience with, the use of technology (computers, tablets, interactive white boards) as an educational tool.Knowledge of special education law and regulations as it relates to designing and making recommendations for student programs and accommodations.Must possess appropriate New York State certification.Deadline Date: Please submit a letter of application, resume, and copy of your certification through OLAS, no later than Monday, November 14, 2022.
