Notice of Anticipated Vacancy May 6, 2026 Secondary Music Teacher: High School Band Director This position is available September 1, 2026 P osition Description: The Manhasset school community takes great pride in its strong support for the arts and the high standards that define its music program. The successful candidate will join a collaborative and well-established instrumental music team, working closely with colleagues to support a cohesive and vertically aligned program. The secondary instrumental program is highly collaborative and continues to grow, supported by strong student interest and a community that deeply values music education. This is an opportunity to contribute to a program with momentum, shared vision, and a commitment to excellence. Responsibilities include: Teaching high school Concert Band, Symphonic Wind Ensemble, and instrumental lessons during the school day Preparing and conducting performances throughout the year, including concerts, community events, and co-curricular experiences such as non-competitive marching band and parades Continuing to build upon a strong wind band program through thoughtful repertoire selection, high-level rehearsal practice, and long-term program development Supporting individual student growth through opportunities such as honor ensembles and festivals Collaborating with colleagues to ensure alignment of curriculum and contributing positively to a collegial, high-functioning department Participating in department-wide initiatives, including concerts and periodic travel experiences (e.g., Disney) Additional opportunities may include advising or directing extra-curricular ensembles Qualifications: Appropriate New York State Music Certification K-12 required. Salary as per MEA contract.
