Notice of Anticipated VacancyMay 1, 2024 Broadcast Journalism Instructor Manhasset Secondary SchoolThis position is available September 2, 2024 Position Description: Manhasset Secondary School's nationally recognized Broadcast Journalism program seeks an inspirational, organized, and creative instructor. The ideal candidate will possess the following: The ability to lead a thriving Broadcast Journalism/Digital Media program with multiple courses of varying levels.A practical knowledge of journalism – prior experience in the journalism/media field a plus.A knowledge of editing platforms (ex. Final Cut Pro X) and cameras (ex. Black Magic, Panasonic). Ability to complete basic repairs on technology and budget for equipment. Understanding of camera techniques (ex. shot types, sequences, and framing/composition) and newscast structure (ex. standups, voiceover, b-roll).A strong grasp on creative broadcast story structure and broadcast writing.General knowledge of film production (storyboarding and screenplay writing) with a specific focus on documentaries,An understanding of media ethics and the transforming media landscape (ex. AI, disinformation, etc.)Experience with project-based learning, multilayered assignments, and the promotion of effective student teamwork. Qualifications: New York State certification in Technology Education or ELA 7-12. This is a10-month position with hours of 8:00am – 3:08pm. Salary as per MEA contract.
