The Manhasset School District, a premier nationally recognized school district on the North Shore of Long Island, seeks a highly qualified Director of School Counseling Services. The ideal candidate is experienced, organized, detail oriented, and possess a strong knowledge of all aspects of a comprehensive school counseling program based upon identified needs of the students in individual school buildings, ensuring compliance with State Regulations. The successful candidate must have leadership experience, strong advocacy, and collaborative interpersonal and communication skills, and have implemented programs that benefited all students with a positive impact on student achievement, career, and social/emotional development. This is a 12-month position, working 212 days, and reports to the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services. This position is a member of the Administrative bargaining group. Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree and New York State School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) certification. Candidates must have a demonstrated record of success as a school district or school building administrator. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Implements, integrates, directs, and evaluates the District’s school counseling programs services in alignment with the educational curriculum of the schools, District, and State regulationsAssesses instructional and social-emotional trends and implements best practices as related to a comprehensive school counseling programCollaborates with building principals and curriculum instruction administrators on developing and maintaining effective district-wide and building-based Intervention and Referral Services as appropriateOversees services for students who might be experiencing difficulty with academic achievement, health related concerns, and physical, social-emotional and learning disabilitiesSupervises and coordinates services for students receiving home instruction, who are homeschooled, or eligible through McKinney-VentoDevelops, along with the curriculum and instructional administrators, academic initiatives that celebrate student achievement such as honors ceremonies, scholarship programs, etc.Implements a program to assist students with identifying possible career, employment, and postsecondary education objectivesOrganizes visitations by collegiate representatives, including parent nights and career/college fairsEstablishes and maintains positive relationships with families, faculty and staff, and community, County, and State organizationsSupervises all school counselors and social workersManages day-to-day expenses associated with the provision of the school counseling programs and servicesAssumes responsibility of compiling, maintaining, and filing reports, records, and other documents legally required or administratively needed in designated schools Qualified candidates should apply via OLAS with a letter of intent, proof of NYS certification, and resume by March 31, 2023 to: Allison M.
