POSITION: Elementary Math Specialist Elementary Math Specialists serve a dual role as both interventionists/AIS instructors and instructional coaches, working to improve student outcomes through targeted support and strengthened Tier 1 instruction. Through direct service and partnership-based coaching, they advance personalization, mentorship, and educator expertise in mathematics. RESPONSIBILITIES Plan and deliver culturally responsive AIS mathematics instruction that creates inclusive, affirming learning environments and meets diverse student needs through ongoing assessment and differentiation Collaborate with colleagues through co-teaching, team planning, and shared problem-solving to design and implement Tier 1 math instruction that anticipates and addresses diverse student needs Engage in ongoing coaching cycles with teachers and teams, including co-planning, modeling, observation, and feedback, using student data to strengthen Tier 1 math instruction and improve student outcomes Communicate effectively with families, colleagues, and the Instructional Support Team regarding student progress and areas for growth Use student data to design, implement, and monitor targeted supports QUALIFICATIONS Possession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certification Deep knowledge of elementary mathematics curriculum (including Bridges), NYS standards, and how students learn mathematics (K–5) Strong ability to analyze and use student data within MTSS frameworks to inform instruction, intervention, and enrichment Demonstrated knowledge of culturally responsive-sustaining practices Commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice Demonstrated ability to engage in partnership-based instructional coaching and facilitate collaborative team structures (e.g., data meetings, co-planning, inquiry cycles) to improve instructional practice and student outcomes REPORTS TO: Building Principal Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
