RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and implement a comprehensive library media program that supports the school's curriculum and promotes information literacy. Provide instruction to students on research skills, digital literacy, and the ethical use of information. Manage the library collection, including selection, acquisition, cataloging, and maintenance of print and digital resources. Create a welcoming and engaging library environment that encourages reading and learning, and that is safe, welcoming, and affirming for all students. Facilitate and supervise various educational and enrichment student groups during the school day. Assist students and staff in locating and using library resources and technology. Manage the library's technology resources, including computers, tablets, and audiovisual equipment. Maintain accurate records of library materials and prepare reports as needed. Plan, prepare, deliver, and assess culturally responsive lesson plans and instructional materials facilitating active learning and engagement. Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds. Collaborate with the Office of Curriculum and Instruction, the Office of Student Support Services, teachers, counselors, and all other offices and staff members to integrate library resources and information literacy skills into classroom instruction, and to provide opportunities for the personalization of instruction, intervention, and enrichment to individual student needs. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Strong knowledge of children's literature and current educational technology Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, students, and administrators Proficiency in using library management systems and educational technology In-depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a classroom that is affirming and welcoming Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with library and educational trends.
