RESPONSIBILITIES: Varsity Assistant Softball Coach has the following responsibilities including but not limited to:Strong ability to clearly communicate expectations with all stakeholders, i.e. administration, athletes, and familiesServe as a point of contact for players and parents within the girls' varsity softball team.Attend all games, practices, and required coaches' meetingsFacilitating parent meetings with head coachWork with the head coach to develop philosophies, facilities management, and schedules for the varsity girls’ softball teamWork with the head coach to communicate and facilitate a rubric for a 3-5 day tryout Work with the head coach to create and facilitate a daily practice plan, emphasizing technical skills, teamwork, and sportsmanshipFoster a positive, inclusive, and respectful team culture/environment that prioritizes safety as well as encourages hard work, discipline, and teamworkServe as a role model for players, and encourage sportsmanship and team unity both on and off the fieldAssist with equipment, including issuing and collecting equipment, and ensuring it is used properly and safely Coordinate facility needs and repairs with maintenance and school employees Record and inventory uniforms and equipment before and after each seasonAdhere to NYSPHSAA, Section 1, and school policies & regulations REPORTS TO: Director & Assistant Director of Health, PE & Athletics REQUIREMENTSExperience:Previous coaching experience, with high school-aged athletesKnowledge of NYS and NFHS softball rules and regulations.Certifications:NYS teaching license and/or NYS coaching license in softballValid CPR/AED/First Aid (in compliance with NYSED)Child Abuse, Violence Prevention, Mandated Reporting and DASA SALARY: In accordance with the Agreement between the Board of Education and the Mamaroneck Teachers’ Association APPLICATION DEADLINE: 1/30/2026 Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
