We value differences as strengths and strive to cultivate a shared ethic of care, high expectations, and collective responsibility across our schools.POSITION AVAILABLE: December 8, 2025 - March 26, 2026 (Anticipated Dates)LOCATION: Mamaroneck Avenue SchoolSUPERVISOR: Building Principal and Director of Special EducationREQUIREMENTS:NYS School Psychologist Certification.Knowledge and experience in conducting bilingual psycho-educational testing.Strong written, verbal, organizational, and leadership skills.RESPONSIBILITIES:Chairing Committee on Special Education (CSE) meetings Conducting bilingual psychoeducational evaluationsReport writingIEP developmentConducting counseling sessions; and Any other professional tasks as designated by the Building Principal or Director of Special Education.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Strong understanding of positive behavior reinforcement systems and task analysisExperience with IEP development - writing goals, progress monitoring and identification of modifications/accommodations In depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate an environment that is affirming and welcomingKnowledge of the RTI process and ability to effectively communicate with an Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthIn depth knowledge of school-based programs to support students with significant emotional challenges, resulting in school avoidanceStrong understanding of the many underlying causes of school avoidance, including but not limited to anxiety and mood disorders, specific phobias, and learning difficultiesTraining in and experience utilizing DBT or CBT approach to school based counselingWillingness to participate in home visits in order to facilitate attendance for school avoidant studentsFacilitate ongoing communication with parentsCommunicate with outside mental health providers to ensure continuity of care inside and outside of schoolExperience with IEP development and monitoring of goals Conducting psychoeducational evaluationsChair Committee on Special Education meetingsCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams (i.e., administrators, teachers, social workers) to address students’ needs throughout the school day Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
