POSITION AVAILABLE: 8/28/2025 - 1/6/2026 (Anticipated dates) The Literacy AIS teacher provides small-group, targeted instruction to students who have not met proficiency benchmarks in literacy. The teacher uses diagnostic and formative assessments to develop individualized plans for instruction. S/he uses research-based instructional strategies to remediate gaps in students’ skills and conceptual understanding. The Literacy AIS teacher is responsible for direct and close communication with classroom teachers, other service providers, administrators, and parents/guardians. RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan, prepare and deliver culturally responsive lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagementConduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needsCommunicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthUtilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instructionEstablish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleaguesDemonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgroundsEncourage family involvement in students’ education and ensure effective communication with students and familiesPromote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming and affirming for all students Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planningCommunicate effectively orally and in writingPromote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming, and affirming for all students. Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planning.Implement a range of reading intervention models, including Reading Recovery, Fundations, Wilson, and multi-sensory approaches.Use tiered Response to Intervention (RTI) model and associated NYS regulations.
