The Coach engages in a variety of professional activities to promote the implementation, innovation, and evaluation of the K-8 literacy curriculum, with a particular focus on articulation between elementary and middle schools. To those ends, the Coach facilitates professional development, maintains resources, provides input and recommendations regarding purchases, assists in curriculum mapping, facilitates classroom and school inter-visitations, participates in program evaluation, and more. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide leadership related to literacy instruction across the district with Literacy Lead Teachers, grade level teams, and in other contexts/groupsSupport individual and groups/teams of K-8 teachers in the implementation, innovation, and evaluation of the literacy curriculumSupports Principals and Assistant Principals in coaching needs related to the achievement of school-wide literacy goalsAssist in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of relevant portions of the District Professional Learning PlanAssist and engage in data analysis to evaluate, identify gaps in, and identify opportunities for innovation the implementation of the literacy curriculumEngage staff in various scheduled professional development experiences in support of all of the aboveRepresent the district, as directed, in regional and other groups, conferences, or other gatherings/collaborativesOther relevant duties or special projects as assigned by the Supervisor of Instruction, the Director of Early Literacy K-5, the Director of Humanities 6-12, the Director of Multilingual Programs, the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, and/or the SuperintendentPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate New York teacher certification At least three years of successful teaching experience in a relevant assignment, or other such experience deemed appropriate by the SuperintendentDemonstrated innovation and creativity in response to technical and adaptive challengesDemonstrated mastery of communication with individuals and groups in context of adult learningREPORTS TO: Supervisor of Instruction Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
