Student Affairs Advisor (Teacher on Special Assignment)LOCATION: Mamaroneck High SchoolThe Mamaroneck Union Free School District seeks collaborative, equity-minded employees who commit to develop knowledge, skills, and practices to create culturally responsive learning and working environments. RESPONSIBILITIES: Promote a school environment that is safe, welcoming, inclusive, and affirming for all students. Communicate and collaborate with staff, administration, students, and parents.Promote and celebrate student diversity in practices and systems of student extracurricular and school climate.Oversee, supervise, advise, and monitor the following: student clubs, student council, extracurricular school/student life, school photos, senior portraits, yearbook, tiger time program (in collaboration with tiger time coordinators) and the senior internship program (in collaboration with community internship advisor). Provide guidance to students to help navigate school and social situations.Develop and build a strong sense of community, belonging, and school pride among the student body.Collaborate closely with students, staff, and administration to provide events that are relevant, responsive and reflective of the diverse student body.Maintain and monitor data, records, and reports regarding student clubs and activities, which may include financial ledger reviews of student clubs, fundraising, club attendance and activities, schedules, payments, etc.Manage multiple students, tasks, and needs throughout the day, which will involve active participation and engagement throughout the building during the school day.Proactively develop and schedule all details of student activities and events in close communication with administration, staff, students, and parents. Provide coverage and student supervision when needed.Oversee, supervise, and actively participate in all student events and activities during and outside the school day; this will include evening and weekend events. Meet professional education requirements of school, district and state.Communicate effectively orally and in writingOther duties as assigned by the MHS leadership team. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: In depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a school that is affirming, inclusive, and welcoming.Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks Ability to analyze data to improve student participation, engagement, and interest in student life at the school for all students.Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunities.Secondary school experience.Bilingual English-Spanish is strongly encouraged.
