LOCATION: Hommocks Middle SchoolSUPERVISOR: Building PrincipalThe Teaching Assistant will work with students who require more individualized attention, differentiation during the physical education lessons.RESPONSIBILITIES:1. Establish a positive and collaborative relationship with the physical education teacher through regular meetings and communication.2. Work with individuals or groups of students under the direct supervision of the physical education teacher.3. Assist with activities of the daily lesson by:demonstrating or having another student correctly demonstrate the skill or activity under instruction;closely supervising students in teacher-planned activities, including physically standing an arm’s-reach or close proximity as neededhelping students stay on task for activities taught by the physical education teacher through motivation, assistance,using appropriate activity modifications of equipment, rules as approved by the physical education teacher;facilitating positive, age-appropriate interaction between the students and their peers.4. Implement approved behavior management program for students during PE class consistent with the plan used in the classroom5. Record data and progress of students under the direction of the physical education teacher.6. Prepare and obtain instructional materials (e.g. equipment, written instructions) as needed for the lesson’s activities in consultation with the physical education teacher.7. Uphold confidentiality guidelines pertaining to students, parents, and physical education activities. REQUIREMENTS: Candidate must hold a N.Y.S.
