RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and maintain a vibrant library environment, with a diverse collection of books, resourcesand other materials, representing the diversity of the student body and supporting the range ofthe educational programs.Plan, prepare and deliver culturally responsive lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagementLead student library sessions, library skills sessions and support class visits to the Library.Utilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instructionEstablish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleaguesDemonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgroundsEncourage family involvement in students’ education and ensure effective communication with students and familiesPromote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming and affirming for all students Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planningCommunicate effectively orally and in writing POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Experience of leading a libraryExperience of collaborative lesson planning with teachers to support student literacyKnowledge of how to use digital technologies effectively in promoting student learningPrevious experience or knowledge of working with students for whom English is not the first languageIn depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a classroom that is affirming and welcomingMaintain book lists supporting the development of study skills and wider reading for studentsWork with school leaders to develop a whole school literature plan to foster a love of readingKnowledge of the RTI process and ability to effectively communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthDemonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining FrameworksAbility to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomesAbility to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seek professional learning opportunities Possession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certification REPORTS TO: Building PrincipalEthnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
