LOCATION: Mamaroneck Union Free School District (District-wide)REQUIREMENTS:Possession of appropriate New York State Special Education Teacher Certification (Special Education K-12, Special Education Permanent, SWD 1-6, SWD 7-12)Knowledge and experience with diagnostic assessments and testing for special education eligibilityExperience and/or certification in the area of multisensory reading instruction (i.e. Wilson, Orton Gillingham) Bilingual (Spanish-English) a plusRESPONSIBILITIES:Plan, prepare and deliver culturally responsive and relevant lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and engagement for students with individualized education programs (IEPs) throughout the district and our non-public schools, as neededConduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needsCommunicate student progress and areas for growth Ability to work independently and collaboratively to complete professional tasksEncourage family involvement in each student’s education, and ensure effective communication with students and families Promote an instructional learning environment that is safe, welcoming, and affirming for all students Communicate effectively orally and in writingMeet professional teacher education requirements of school, district and statePOSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge of high leverage special education practices and specially designed instructionExperience with IEP development - writing goals, progress monitoring and identification of modifications/accommodations Knowledge of social emotional learning (SEL) approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a learning environment that is affirming and welcomingAbility to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomesAbility to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seeks professional learning opportunitiesEthnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
