Position: Special Education Teacher – ProbationaryLocation: Hommocks Middle School Supervisor: Building Principal and Director of Special Education Requirements: NYS Special Education SWD Certification Grades 1-6 and Grade 7-12 or SWD K-12Certification/Training in Wilson or PAF Responsibilities/Skillset:Knowledge of high leverage middle school special education practicesExperience teaching reading through a multi-sensory approach. Ability to plan for and develop differentiated learning plans within highly structured learning environments IEP development including assessment, goals, modifications, and accommodationsExperience using tools and systems to progress monitor Experience in Integrated Co-teaching and/or Resource Room assignmentsKnowledge of the stages of adolescent developmentUnderstanding of positive behavior reinforcement systems and class managementStrong communication and collaboration skills Compensation: In accordance with the Agreement between the Board of Education and the Mamaroneck Teachers’ Association.
