ELEMENTARY STEM TEACHER - Probationary POSITION AVAILABLE: August 31, 2023The Mamaroneck Union Free School District seeks collaborative, equity-minded employees who commit to develop knowledge, skills, and practices to create culturally responsive learning and working environments. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide STEM expertise at the elementary level, promoting active, engaging, and hands-on learning experiences in the areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematicsLead the development and implementation of authentic, project-based, interdisciplinary curricular unitsMaintain materials and equipment within new STEM Learning Hubs in multiple schools Engage in professional development to stay current with new developments in STEM educationWork collaboratively with STEM colleagues across the district to develop a consistent and coherent vision of STEM educationConduct ongoing assessment of student learning and progress, and modify instructional methods to fit individual student's needsCommunicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthUtilize relevant technology and instructional materials to support and differentiate instructionEstablish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with colleaguesDemonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural and economic backgroundsEncourage family involvement in students’ education and ensure effective communication with students and familiesPromote a classroom environment that is safe, welcoming and affirming for all students Work in a collaborative teaching environment, including co-teaching and interdisciplinary planningCommunicate effectively orally and in writingPOSITION QUALIFICATIONS: Thorough knowledge of:NYS Elementary Science Learning Standards (P-2 and 3-5)NYS Computer Science and Digital Fluency (K-1, 2-3, and 4-6)Engineering Design ProcessExperience with makerspace tools (including 3D printers and vinyl cutters), robotics, and other technologiesIn depth knowledge of social emotional learning approaches and experience in implementing SEL to cultivate a classroom that is affirming and welcomingKnowledge of the RTI process and ability to effectively communicate with the Instructional Support Team and parents regarding student progress and areas for growthDemonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining FrameworksAbility to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes.Ability to engage in self-reflection with regard to performance and professional growth; actively seek professional learning opportunities Possession of appropriate New York State Teacher Certification REPORTS TO: Director of STEM, K-12 and Building Principal APPLICATION DEADLINE: April 14, 2023Ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply.
