ANTICIPATEDCOORDINATOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION (PRE-K-12) Responsibilities include: Coordinator reports and accepts administrative responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director of Special EducationCoordinates the Special Education Programs/Services for both district-wide and out of district students Implements curriculum and program planning in these programs. Primary contact for out of district schools, charter schools and parentally placed studentsResponsible for Special Education ArchivesProvides professional development for special education teachers, related staff in collaboration with other district administratorsSupports MTSS and other student support initiatives and programsEvaluates all Special Education Programs, facilities, curriculum, instructional materials, parent relationships, and best teaching practices to increase student successDevelops budget recommendations and provides expenditure controls on established budgets for special educationKeeps informed of all state and federal requirements governing students with disabilities, special education programs and servicesProvides leadership in establishing new programs and improving existing programsSupervises the Committee on Special Education and serves as a CPSE and CSE chairperson when needed Responsible for the identification, evaluation, and placement of students with disabilities for both district and non district students while providing for a free and appropriate public education in the least restrictive environmentResponsible for gathering needed information for special education data collectionSupervises and observes special education teachers, teaching assistants, speech teachers. (including Pre and Post Observation Conferences in accordance with the District’s APPR plan) Assists in recruitment of staffWorks collaboratively with coordinators, building administration and directors to ensure consistent Pre-K-12 programQualifications:NYS Certificate for School District Leader/School District AdministratorMasters degree or higher, with academic training in Special EducationAt least 3-5 years’ experience in public education, part of which must have been in teaching or supervising in the field of Special Education Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of colleagues, parents, families and community membersAdhere to a high level of professional and ethical standardsEmbodies outstanding personal and professional integrityPromotes and provides for a positive, respectful school culture and establishes and maintains highly effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and communityHas a positive Growth Mindset and promotes Collective Efficacy among staff and facultyCreates a culture of high achievement, social and emotional wellness, through positive interactions with students and their familiesServes as a champion for all Longwood students, families, and District staff to prepare for a successful academic and professional futurePossess initiative to LEARN & GROW professionally, and serve as the lead learner of the buildingSuch alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board my find appropriate and acceptable Salary: Contractual as per MIAA contractEffective: July 1, 2023
