Speech Teacher, Speech Language Therapist/Pathologist TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: Speech-Language Therapist/Pathologists work to prevent, assess, diagnose, and treat speech, language, social communication and cognitive-communication in (K-12) students, performing such duties as:Evaluate and diagnose speech, language and communication disorders.Provide speech/language therapy services as determined by the IEPConsult with teachers and parents regarding the students' progressMaintain attendance, ongoing evaluation, and progress recordsAbility to work with children with speech and language deficits both in the classroom and in an itinerant setting.Treat speech, language and communication disorders.Work collaboratively with professionals from many other disciplines.Consult with parents, school personnel, and other professionals regarding children who need support in developing speech and language skills;Complete speech language evaluations on students suspected of communicative disorders; Present evaluation findings at multidisciplinary educational meetings, working together to collaborate for student success.Provide speech/language therapy sessions, individually or in small groups, for students with speech/language deficits; provide classroom support for special education students to assist in speech/language development. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: NYS Certified Speech & Language Disabilities, NYS Licensed Speech Pathologist preferred.
