The Locust Valley Central School District is seeking a highly qualified leader to join our outstanding staff as the Coordinator of Pupil Personnel Services, K-12. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to provide visionary and collaborative leadership, meaningful professional development and highly effective supervision for all levels of instruction. Candidates must:have at least 3 years experience as a successful teacher of special education or speech, school counselor, psychologist or social worker; experience as a successful building or district administrator is preferred;communicate exemplarily and forge strong relationships with all members of the school community;demonstrate experience in leadership opportunities that have enabled him/her to influence others to work collaboratively and to promote innovation and risk-taking;possess a strong understanding of the role of the CSE/CPSE Chairperson and have experience leading CSE/CPSE and 504 meetings.interpret and apply current Federal and NYS Law and Commissioner’s Regulations regarding special education and student support services;demonstrate current, accurate knowledge regarding CPSE and CSE regulations, effective IEP creation/monitoring/ implementation, MTSS/RTI best practices and Alternative Assessments;supervise staff and have strong knowledge of APPR regulations;adhere to a child-centered philosophy, with proven ability as a rigorous academic leader, innovative planner and effective communicator;have knowledge and experience with Life Skills programs, alternate placement options and service provider recruitment/oversight;demonstrate ability to assist in overseeing the special education budget and State reporting. * Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.Major Responsibilities:assist in staff oversight, placement and new hire recommendations, as well as evaluation of Special Education Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Home ABA Supervisor, Behavior Specialists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Speech Therapists, Teachers of the Hearing Impaired, Teachers of the Visually Impaired, Individual Teacher Assistants or any contracted service provider under the direction of the Director for Pupil Personnel Serviceswork with Guidance and Special Education staff to assist in overseeing accommodations modifications and for AP, IB, SAT, ACT, PSAT and Regents examchair initial eligibility CSE meetings in all buildingsdirectly oversee CPSE programs; monitor, supervise, evaluate CPSE recommendations, related placements, initial referrals, and requested reviews for CPSEwork directly with secondary staff and life skills programs focusing on transition programs inclusive of career development and community-based work opportunitiesassist in administrative oversight of the Locust Valley Central School District Extended School Year Program.works with projections, students, staffing and additional program needs as required and makes recommendations to the Director for Pupil Personnel Servicesassist in programmatic and staffing review and help present recommendationsassist in staffing oversight, placement and new hire recommendations, as well as evaluation of Special Education Teachers, Teacher Assistants, Home ABA Supervisor, Behavior Specialists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Speech Therapists, Teachers of the Hearing Impaired, Teachers of the Visually Impaired, Individual Teacher Assistants or any contracted service provider under the Direction of the Director for Pupil Personnel Servicesassist in determining instructional personnel needs for special education and prepare staffing plan;develop district guidelines and procedures to implement all special education laws and regulations;provide district-wide evaluation, planning and implementation of all special education/special service programs and activities throughout the school year and summer;CERTIFICATION: NYS School District Leader (SDL) or School District Administrator (SDA)SALARY: According to contract between District and Administrator’s Unit
