The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Leave Replacement Secondary Art Teacher to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Providing developmentally appropriate instruction on art techniques.Supervising lessons to ensure respectful interaction among learners.Collaborating with other teachers.Setting learning objectives.Inspiring creativity and self-expression among students.Teaching various art forms and techniques.Maintaining art records and portfolios of students.Work Hours and Benefits:This leave replacement position is in our Middle/High School with an immediate start date through June 27, 2025.Qualifications:Experience teaching middle and high school art.Strong background in both traditional art techniques and technology-based design skills.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Training and Education:NYS Certification in NYS Visual Arts.Salary:Per LVSEA Teachers Contract.Interested Candidates:Post a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.Posting Deadline:November 15, 2024.
