The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for Bus Drivers - Hourly Position to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. RESPONSIBILITIES:Transport children and other passengers to and from school.Learn bus route.Understand and obey all traffic laws.Maintain a clean and mechanically sound bus at all times.Ensure the safety of all students.Discipline children as needed to maintain a safe environment.Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route.Attend safety meetings as required.START:~October 16, 2025SALARY:$25.23 - $28.43* Incremental increase depending on relevant driving experience*pending contract negotiationsAttendance Incentive: Drivers absent 3 times or less (personal or sick) in each 2 month period over the school year will receive an attendance bonus as follows:Absent 0-1 days = $200Absent 2-3 days = $150CDL Differential: Valid CDL B license holders who accept CDL Class B assignments are eligible for an end of year differential of $550 (pro-rated for drivers working less than the full school year and/or only working 1 shift).BENEFITS:Eligibility requirements: Health insurance is available to eligible drivers who work 30 or more hours per work week, on as-needed basis.Job Qualifications:Commercial Driver’s License (CDL B or CDL C) with “P” & “S” endorsement.Previous experience operating a school bus or van is preferred.One (1) year clean driving record with no at-fault accidents or traffic citations.
