The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for Substitute Teachers to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. We are seeking Per Diem, Long Term and Permanent substitute teachers across all subject domains (Grades K-12). General Duties and Responsibilities (is not limited to):The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.Qualifications:In depth knowledge in the subject area they are applying for.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Demonstrated ability to effectively manage classroom behavior and maintain a positive learning environment.
