The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Leave Replacement Special Education Math Teacher (MS) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The leave replacement teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop and design lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans (in support of student's IEPs) provided by the regular teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.Develop new ideas and concepts through a variety of strategies to help students uncover new ideas of their own.Modifies existing instructional plans as necessary to accommodate individual students’ special needs. Working with students individually if they need extra help and support.Adapt mathematics curriculum for individuals and small groups.Instructing and guiding students on how to solve mathematical equations and concepts.Develop and use flexible teaching tools and methods to help students learn mathematics.Build relationships with students and their families through regular communication on IEP progress and feedback.Develop and design lesson plans and assignments in support of student's IEPs.Assess, evaluate and track student performance and ongoing progress.Start Date and Benefits:This position is located in our Middle School. Position dates: January 27, 2025 through May 13, 2025. There are no benefits. Qualifications: Experience working in Special Education Math in a secondary school.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Training and Education:NYS Certification in Students with Disabilities 7-12Salary:$175 per day.Interested Candidates:Submit a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.
