The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for an Assistant Bus Dispatcher - Probationary to join our team to help provide safe transport for our students. Duties and Responsibilities:Assist with the coordination and scheduling of school bus routes and drivers. Dispatch a fleet of school buses. Respond to and help manage emergency situations or breakdowns.Handle route and bus stop issues, complaints and any student behavioral and/or disciplinary issues with parents and school building administrators/staff as needed.Ensure drivers understand and comply with traffic regulations and bus safety rules.Maintain records of bus routes, driver schedules and student transportationinformation.Work with maintenance teams to ensure all buses are in good working condition. May be required to drive a school busAnswering phones, updating records, and filing any incident reports.Work Location & Benefits:This position is with the Locust Valley Central School District with an anticipated start date of January 16, 2025. Eligible for full benefits as per the CSEA Bus Drivers contract.Qualifications:Experience as a dispatcher, preferably in a school setting.Commercial driver’s license: CDL B P S Endorsement.Certified 19A Examiner.Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.Strong communication skills and ability to interact with students, parents and school building administrators and/or school staff.Problem solving skills.Be able to use a computer with little or no supervision.Transfinder knowledge.Minimum of a High School degree or equivalent.
