The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Long Term Substitute Spanish Teacher to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Help refine Spanish lesson plans.Build and enhance students' Spanish skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening by using creative teaching strategies.Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.Work Hours and Benefits:This position is a long term position in our Middle/High School with an anticipated start date of Sep 3, 2024 through Dec 6, 2024. There are no benefits. Interested candidates must provide 2 professional references.Qualifications:Bilingual Spanish/English.Experience teaching Spanish in high school is preferred.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Emotional stability and strong problem-solving skills.Training and Education:NYS Certification in Spanish (7-12).Salary:$175 per day.
