The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a Permanent Substitute Teacher - World Language (District Wide) to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential. Duties and Responsibilities:The Substitute Teacher is responsible for the well-being and safety of the students, taking attendance, maintaining a functioning classroom, utilizing classroom management skills, leaving a clean classroom, and teaching the provided curriculum.Develop lesson plans and assignments consistent with the regular teacher's past lesson plans provided by the regular Teacher to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students. Help refine lesson plans.Build and enhance students' foreign language skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening by using creative teaching strategies.Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.Adapt teaching methods to fit the needs of each individual student.Provide in-class and at-home assignments based on the available lesson plan.Start Date and Benefits:Anticipated start date of Sep 3, 2024 through Dec 4, 2024. There are no benefits.Qualifications:Bilingual (in the foreign language subject area you are applying for).Experience teaching in high school is preferred.Proven leadership, organizational, written, and oral communication skills.Ability to engage, motivate and challenge students.Understanding of modern teaching techniques and use of classroom technologies.Training and Education:NYS Certification in (in the foreign language subject area you are applying for).Salary:$175 per day.Interested Candidates:Provide a cover letter, resume and 2 professional references.Posting Deadline:August 20, 2024.
