SUMMARY : The Executive Director for Human Resources serves as a strategic architect of the school’s talent infrastructure. The primary function of this position is to provide leadership, guidance and supervision for all personnel and staffing matters. Oversight of the employee experience lifecycle, ensuring that the District is staffed with high-quality and mission-aligned professionals. The role balances long-term organizational design with the rigorous day-to-day management of labor relations, and a service-oriented HR department. RESPONSIBILITIES : Oversee operations and administrative office personnel productivity, building a positive culture that ensures each team member can meet the organization’s goals. Analyze internal operations and identify areas for process enhancement and reorganization. Implement strategies and plans that align the short and long-term objectives in tandem with the Superintendent. In coordination with the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents, set compensation policy and determine/approve compensation levels for new and existing staff. Advise school leadership on staff disciplinary and performance issues and conduct meetings with affected employees. Determine appropriate levels of remediation/discipline and manage processes in cooperation with school leaders. As Title IX/DASA Coordinator, ensure that the District is in compliance with all applicable equal opportunity laws and regulations. Conduct investigations of complaints and determine resolution of complaints in cooperation with leadership. Supervise and provide direction and supervision to the Senior Personnel Clerk and Personnel Clerk. Advise leadership with certification issues and work with staff and the state to resolve certification deficiencies. Update employee handbook and related written policies. Advise staff on leave options and approve all leaves of absence in compliance with applicable law and Board policy. Ensure compliance with wage and hour requirements, workers compensation, unemployment, and other employment laws and regulations. Participate in the development and implementation of district-wide policies and procedures. Oversight of Personnel processes including strategy, posting, recruiting, vetting, negotiating, hiring, onboarding, off boarding, probation management, all related timelines and recommendations to the Superintendent of Schools. Oversee timelines and deadlines related to contractual obligations with each bargaining unit. Manage MyLearningPlan for graduate credit and teacher movement along the salary schedule in coordination with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Participate and/or represent the District, as necessary, in formal personnel meetings with staff district-wide. Manage District’s APPR recording and reporting process in coordination with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. Prepare written and/or oral presentations and responses as necessary for all school matters. Manage-up any matters that require support or special attention from the Superintendent of Schools. Attend all meetings of the Board of Education and meetings of Committees of the Board of Education as required by the Superintendent of Schools. QUALIFICATIONS : NYS School District Leader Certification MBA or Master’s Degree (minimum) Prior experience in school human resources Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Technology proficiency Excellent communication skills Ability to collaborate with staff, administrators, parents and community members SUPERVISOR : Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Kristen Turnow START : ~May 1, 2026 SALARY : Commensurate with experience and education
