LaSalle School offers competitive compensation and benefits, excellent learning, and development opportunities.WHO YOU CAN BECOME: The Transition Coordinator/Work Based Learning Coordinator is a full-time, 35-hour a week, 12-month (school calendar), and exempt salaried position that supervises the delivery of the program services which help to prepare students to acquire skills enabling them to successfully transition to work or appropriate post-secondary studies. This includes coordinating and supporting student work experiences both on and off campus, developing viable work sites for our students, and staying current with best practices regarding school to work transition strategies. The Transition Coordinator/Work Based Learning Coordinator will participate in planning and assisting appropriate post-secondary educational opportunities, when appropriate. They will be familiar with the relationship between Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) standards and normative experience guidelines as identified by the Office of Children and Family Services, ensuring appropriate documentation of those activities is completed. In addition, they will participate in planning and delivering programing for CDOS credential students. WHAT YOU’LL DO: Teach employability skills classes and provide other appropriate job preparation instructions to students.Provide a resource for working papers and assist students to secure and maintain employment both on and off campus jobs. Coordinate the Summer Job Corps program with the City of Albany.Monitor daily activities of the working students and provide the support necessary to assist each student successfully attain their goals.As a member of the Educational Services Team (EST), work closely with the EST, Day Services Team, and Residential Services Teams, to assure school to work efforts are carefully integrated into the overall treatment plans and Individualized Educational Plan(s) for each student.Coordinate the career assessments, vocational assessments, and all Special Education (SED) Committee on Special Education (CSE) required transitional services for students.Maintain all necessary documentation and adhere to all related timelines (i.e. assessments, CDOS, normative experiences, CSE transition services, etc).Work closely with Argument-Driven Inquiry to assure curriculum development in all subject areas including aspects of school-to-work skills and CDOS requirements to foster acquisition of subject related skills necessary to meet employability goals.Seek resources which will enhance LaSalle School’s ability to provide effective school to work opportunities for our students both on and off campus, including CDOS related activities.Participate in planning for appropriate post-secondary educational opportunities; coordinate activities including applications and financial aid submission.WHAT YOU NEED: NYS SED Teacher Certification or;Career and Technical Education Certification or;School Counseling Certification.Experience with behaviorally challenged adolescent population.Knowledge of effective assessment and intervention strategies to enhance student acquisition of employability skills.Knowledge of requirements for standards for CDOS credentials for studentsWHO ARE YOU:Commitment to support agency mission and philosophy.Excellent written, verbal, and electronic communication skills.Effective small and large group instruction skills.Highly developed organizational skills.Ability to work effectively with a team of professionals.WHAT WE OFFER:Start at 13 paid holidays a year, 12 sick days per year and other leave time available dependent on the circumstances.Health/Medical Insurance - Single (LaSalle covers 100% of cost) / 2-person/family (LaSalle covers 50% of coverage).Dental Insurance - Single (LaSalle covers 100% of cost) / 2-person/family (LaSalle covers 50% of cost).Life Insurance - LaSalle covers 100% of cost at $50,000.
