Lansingburgh Central School District is accepting applications for a transportation coordinator. This position is a bargaining unit position that is12-months, 40 hours per week, with an hourly range of $24.00 - $27.01 based on experience and qualifications. Job Description DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: The incumbent in this position is responsible for the coordination of a school district transportation program. The incumbent in this position works under the supervision of the Director of Transportation, providing programmatic support as needed. TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES: -Communication -Composes documents for the purpose of communicating information to schools and district personnel, parents, the public, state officials, etc. Prepares written materials for the purpose of conveying information regarding school district activities and procedures relating to transportation for website and social media -Responds to inquiries of staff, the public, parent and/or students for the purpose of providing information, and notifies parents of transportation issues and scheduling via phone, email, postcard, and school messaging systems(s). -Notifies bus contractor of transportation issues and scheduling via phone, email -Ensures continued tracking of private/parochial/charter students who have applied for transportation -Office records -Maintains records of McKinney-Vento students, as well as additions and changes to any and all routes. Assists with additions/changes to routing software, and coordinates maintenance and upkeep of district routes. -Maintains and updates all transportation related forms and communication tools. -Maintains a schedule of state required communications, coordinate with Director of Transportation to ensure these timelines are met -Maintain a well-organized, orderly and efficient office -Billing -Maintain records of fuel purchases, including reconciliation -Verify monthly contractor billing to Transfinder route mileage and time -Maintain records of monthly contractor billing -Assists Director of Transportation with assuring contractor compliance And other duties as assigned. FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS: Good knowledge of community and services available in the area; good knowledge of school district transportation regulations; good knowledge of reimbursement and contractual policies; working knowledge of methods used in maintaining financial records and reports; ability to interact well with others, including external stakeholders; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to understand and carry out complex, technical oral and written instructions; ability to resolve problems on a timely and professional manner; tact and courtesy; good judgment; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Four years of experience with transportation routing, scheduling, and management, including providing administrative support for the program; or Associates Degree and two years’ experience in transportation; or Bachelor’s Degree.
