TITLE: Food Service Helper LOCATION: TBD# OF HOURS: 3.75 hours per daySCHEDULE: 9:45am – 1:30pmSALARY: $18.24 - $22.55 GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Performs unskilled work involved in preparation and serving of food, in the cleaning of kitchen equipment, charging of student meal accounts; does related work as required. DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is simple, routine manual work performed under direct supervision of a higher-level cafeteria employee in connection with preparing and serving food under a school breakfast and lunch program including but not limited to large scale meal prep, cleaning of kitchen equipment, and dishes and use of a point of sale system. EXAMPLES OF WORK: (Illustrative only)Prepares sandwiches and salads;Assists in the preparation of school meals and other foods;Serves food from steam tables;Stock productsWashes and dries pots, pans, etc.;Cleans and sanitizes tables and other equipment;Use of the point of sale system and making change. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND ATTRIBUTES: General knowledge of food safety. Familiarity with the proper method of serving food and the care of kitchen appliances; working knowledge of general cleaning methods and the use of cleaning supplies and appliances; ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position; simple counting and math, ability to get along well with others; physical condition commensurate with the duties of the position.
